金玉满堂，莫之能守。富贵而骄，自遗其咎。功成身退，天之道。
《老子》第9章
If your hall is filled with gold and jade，whoever could keep them safe? Wealth and position breed insolence ，that brings ruin in turn. To withdraw as soon as the work is done， that is the Way of Heaven.

金玉满堂:也作金玉盈堂、金玉满室。谓财富极多，后亦用以称人富有才学。富贵而骄:富贵而骄傲。功成:成功。天道:自然规律。《荀子.天论》:“天有常道矣，地有常数矣。”古人认为天道是支配人类命运的天神意志。
[译文]
黄金美玉堆满屋宇，没有人能守得住传给子孙后代。富貴而傲慢，是自取灾祸。事业成就后引身告退这是合乎天道的。
