有国之母，可以长久。是谓深根固柢，长生久视之道。
《老子》第59章
Having the foundation of government，one can maintain sovereignty for a very long time. This is called the Way in which one can plant the roots deep，make the stalks firm and maintain a long life.

有国之母:有了治国的根本。母，根本，也即道。《韩非子，解老》:“所谓有国之母，母者道也。”深根固柢(di):柢，树根。《说文》:“柢，根也。”久视:与“长生”同义。

掌握了治国的根本原则，就可以永远长存。这就是深根固柢，永世长存的道理。
