谷神不死，是谓玄牝。玄牝之门，是谓天地之根。
《老子》第6章
The Valley Spirit never dies. It is named the Mysterious Female. And the Doorway of the Mysterious Female is the base from which Heaven and Earth sprang.

谷神:道的神奇作用。河上公本注:“谷， 养也。”玄牝(pin): 道家指衔生万 物的本源。蒋锡昌曰:“玄者，幽远微妙之意。‘牝”， 母也，为生物之本。‘ 玄牝’者，即微妙之生长，以谷神生之而不见其所以生也。”

道的神妙作用永不会消失，它好像一个玄妙的母体。玄妙母性之门，是产生天地万物的根源。
